Attorney Blogs
Why are blogs important? And what type of content should be included in blogs?
Blogging is the means through which attorneys can “personalize” their firm. Blogs offers lawyers the opportunity to show their expertise in their practice areas. If a significant legal precedent is established, a blog is an ideal way to discuss and explain the ruling in an informal manner to the public. The blog can be written quickly, as there is no expectation (or desire) to have lengthy footnotes or law-review type discussions.
Additionally, blogging can help lead to higher search engine rankings in three ways. First, you are adding additional pages of content to your website. Content is one of the main factors search engines use in their algorithms to determine results rankings. Second, since blogging is (or should be) a regular habit, it keeps your site “fresh.” Search engine favor sites that are adding information on a regular basis since it allows them to know that the site is still “active” and “current.” Lastly, it can help generate more incoming links. If you have valuable and relevant blog entries, other bloggers will link to your blog. Since your blog is (and if it isn’t it should be) a page in your website, an incoming link to your blog is really an incoming link to your site.
In addition to writing your own blog, you should also read and comment on other lawyer’s blogs or general legal blogs. If you comment on one attorney’s blog, that attorney will read and comment on your blog. The more lawyers that read and comment on your blog the more it will help with SEO since the amount of traffic a website receives is a factor used to determine how to rank pages for a given search query.
The last benefit of blogging is that it can be another way to gain recognition by the media as a noted expert in a particular area of law. The more exposure you receive as an expert attorney, the more clients you will attract.
What We Do
As a lawyer, you have expertise in legal matters. Share this expertise or the latest developments in the law on your firm’s website. We’ll show you how to do it correctly to attract potential clients and increase search engine visibility. We will also create a blog for your law firm and for any of your attorney who desire one. If the blog is to be integrated into an existing website, we’ll customize the colors and look to match your firm’s current website. We’ll also submit the blog to the top blog search engines.
