Link building is an essential part of the search engine optimization (SEO) process. Search engine “bots” spider web pages of law firms and attorneys to analyze the page content. When doing so, they look at what words are used, the positioning of the words on the pages, key meta tags, and certain other information. In order to rank highly in this aspect of the search engine process, changes are made to these aspects, which is referred to as “on-site search engine optimization.” In addition to looking at the content on the web pages, search engines also look at the other web pages that link to the web page. These are referred to as "incoming links". Specifically, the search engines note (1)what type of content is on the linking page, (2) the Anchor Text used in the actual link (such as "click here"), and (3) the text on the redirect page (the page shown after the link is clicked).
